Abstract

ABSTRACT
The infant mortality rate according to the definition of the World Health Organization (WHO) is the probability
that a child born in a certain year or period dies before reaching the age of one year (age: 0-27 days, age: 28
days-<1 year). The majority of all newborn deaths (75%) occur during the first week of life and approximately 1
million newborns die within the first 24 hours. Premature birth, intrapartum-related complications and birth
defects cause most of the BBL deaths. Method: This type of research is descriptive with a purposive sampling
technique using the SOAP instrument. Data collection techniques include observation, interviews, physical
examination and documentation studies. Clients receive information about care for newborns, although there are
several gaps in the provision of Vit. K and the Early Breastfeeding Initiation (IMD) process. Thus, the midwifery
care provided there is a gap between theory and practice in the field.
